Ghana PL week 19 wrap: Hearts recapture top spot

The Phobians have made their way to the summit, following setbacks for Kotoko and All Stars

Hearts of Oak have made a glorious return to the top of the table following a 1-0 win over Sekondi Hasaacas in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Cosmos Dauda’s 59th minute strike sealed three points for the Phobians in the matchday 19 away encounter at the Sekondi-Essipong Sport Stadium.

Hearts’ takeover was directly aided by Asante Kotoko’s scoreless draw with Bechem United in Kumasi, while All Stars suffered a 2-1 reversal to Wafa at the Sogakope Park.

Kennedy Boateng and Komlan Agbeniadan were on the score sheet for the Academy Boys while Matthew Andoh fetched the away side’s consolation.

Kotoko and All Stars are now both tied on 32 points, two marks below Hearts.

In other games, former Black Stars striker Eric Gawu was the hero of the day as his lone goal gave Dreams a 1-0 away triumph over Liberty Professionals at the Carl Reindorf Park.

Likewise, Emmanuel Osei Baffour’s solitary effort handed reigning champions Ashanti Gold a 1-0 win over Inter Allies at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Berekum Chelsea are ninth on the ladder after beating Ebusua Dwarfs 1-0 at the Golden City Park courtesy of a Stephen Owusu goal.

Aduana Stars and New Edubiase shared the spoils at Dormaa as Nathaniel Asamoah and James Boadu netted to cancel out each other.

Medeama’s away encounter with Techiman City has been rescheduled due to the former’s Caf Confederation Cup clash with Tanzania’s Young Africans on Saturday.
