The Black Stars are delighted to have booked their place at the Gabon 2017 with victory over Mauritius on Sunday
Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has shed light on their 2-0 away victory over Mauritius in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Sunday.
Andre Ayew and Christian Atsu scored on 70 and 73 minutes respectively at the Stade Anjalay in Belle Vue to help the Black Stars seal their place at the continental showpiece slated for Gabon early next year.
Ghana crushed Les Dodos 7-1 in the first leg tie last June.
“We wanted to kill off the game in the first half,” Wakaso told Happy FM.
“To kill the animal you have to sever off the head.
“We dominated and we are happy for the two goals and the qualification.”
Ayew, who captained the team in the absence of injured Asamoah Gyan, added: “It was a great victory for us and a big motivation to the Afcon tournament.
“We worked hard and won.”
Gabon 2017, set to run between January 14 and February 5, will be Ghana’s 21st Afcon tournament in history and the seventh in a row.
