The versatile rapper, Okyeame Kwame has honoured his pledge to the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), by presenting a cheque for GHC21, 874 to the Committee to aid them in their preparations towards the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, Brasil.
The “Rap doctor” as he is mostly called lined up a series of fund raising activities to help raise funds for the Paralympic team in their qualifiers and the Rio tournament in Brazil and climaxed it with a show at the Plus 233 Pub and Grill in Accra.
The exercise was aimed at raising US$ 40,000.00 for the team.
Board member of the Okyeame Kwame Foundation, Mrs. Nana Yaa Prempeh in presenting the cheque to the NPC through the National Sports Authority (NSA), thanked Dan-deVan Group of Companies, Star Life Assurance, Commet Properties, Wilman Ghana, uniBank Ghana Limited and all generous individuals who contributed to the cause.
“We are extremely grateful to you all our sponsors, both corporate and individuals who have supported our efforts, we have been able to raise GH 21,874.00 cedis in cash and US$ 8,000.00 in pledges.
“This presentation does not signify the end of our efforts, we are still collecting donations for the team,” she noted.
The Deputy Director-General (Technical), Mr.Saka Acquah thanked the Okyeame Kwame Foundation and promised to put the money to good use.
Bishop Cornelius Adja-Cofie, President for the NPC expressed his delight to the kind gesture by Dan-deVan and Okyeame Kwame Foundation saying ” this will go a long way to help these willing athletes to help raise the flag of Ghana high come Rio 2016 Paralympics in Brazil. ” GNA
