The family of slain Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu have expressed delight at the arrest of a suspect in the gruesome killing.
According to Kwaku Solomon, a nephew of the late JB Danquah, the police should move beyond the arrest to establish motive and also identify any other accomplices to face the full rigours of the law.
“We have a mixed reaction now, we are sad and at the same time happy but it will be our joy that the real suspects will be brought to book and we will be happy to see them rot in jail” he stated.
The prime suspect in the murder of the MP has been arrested.
He was arrested Thursday morning, sources within the security agencies have revealed.
The operation to arrest him was led by Greater Accra regional Police Commander DCOP George Akuffo Dampare.
Meanwhile, an MP (name withheld) according to sources was instrumental in providing information that led to the arrest of the young man who has confessed to killing Mr. JB Danquah Adu.
Joy News Parliamentary correspondent Elton John Brobbey reported, the MP received the information from a man who has a relationship with the confessed killer.
The man had spent some time with the confessed killer who plotted the killing of an MP while they were both behind bars.
The man was unaware of who the target was until news broke that the Abuakwa North MP had been stabbed to death Tuesday dawn.
He then moved to tip-off an MP he knew who then relayed the information to the police.
Mr Danquah was stabbed to death at his East Legon residence during the wee hours of Tuesday. The police said they suspected foul play and launched forensic investigations into the case.
Reports say the unknown assailants may have used a ladder to enter the MP’s room via his window to execute their plan.
Kwaku Solomon, speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show on Friday, charged the police to be fair in their investigations and not allow anyone to interfere in their operations.
