NDC has deformed Ghana’s economy – Bawumia

BawumiaVice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Mahamudu Bawumia says the John Mahama-led administration has distorted Ghana’s economic structure through bad governance.

He said the economic policies of the NDC administration, instead of improving things, have rather destroyed many lives.

“Young graduates are unable to find jobs, people are unable to pay school fees for their wards, people are unable to pay hospital bills, businesses are collapsing…many lives have been destroyed, literally because of dumsor.

“This economy has rather been deformed and not transformed”, he said during a press conference at the NPP’s headquarters in Accra, Wednesday in response to the 2016 budget read in parliament by Finance Minister, Seth Terkper.

Dr Bawumia indicated that several warnings to the NDC administration about its management of the economy have been ignored.

The government, he said, prefers to engage in propaganda, ignoring the reality: which is the suffering of the ordinary person.

“Ghanaians were promised a better Ghana in 2008 but going into the 8th year of government in 2016, this government has delivered one of the worst economic performances of any government in Ghana’s history.”

In Dr Bawumia’s view, the record of the last seven main budgets of the NDC is certainly and definitely not one of a better Ghana than what it inherited in 2009.

“It is rather a record of a monumental waste of an historic opportunity to transform the economy and to improve the lives of Ghanaians”, he noted.
