NDC voters in Sunyani East elect Oppong-Ababio

Hundreds of voters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sunyani East Constituency at the weekend elected Mr Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the 2016 general elections.

Mr Oppong-Ababio secured 2,480 votes to beat his only contender Mr Collins Mahama, the Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) who obtained 1,871 votes.

There were 80 rejected ballot papers in the primary conducted and supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission which ended peacefully, amidst tight security presence.

In the Presidential results 4,131 of the NDC voters cast their ballots for the approval of President John Dramani Mahama as the party 2016 presidential candidate, while 204 of them voted against his candidature.

One hundred and six of the ballot papers were rejected. GNA
