Provisional results from nine out of 10 polling stations showed that Dr Ezanetor Rawlings has won the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Primary in the Klottey-Korley Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.
Dr Rawlings, who is the daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings, led with 2403 votes, whereas her closest contender, Nii Armah Ashitey, who is the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Constituency, obtained 1348 votes; with Nii John Coleman placing third with 100 votes.
Generally, the NDC 2015 Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries ended on a very peacefully note in the Klottey Korley Constituency on Saturday.
However, some journalists who were at the Blogodo Gardens Polling Station with the hope of covering former President Jerry John Rawlings, who was expected to cast his vote there, were disappointed when the clock finally kicked 1700 hours; marking the close of the polls with no sign of the former President.
During the polls, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) however, came across some 10 delegates; made of nine women and a gentleman at the Salem Polling Station who could not find their names in the voter register and were moving about from polling station to polling station with the hope that they would per chance locate the appropriate one where they could vote.
Attempts by journalists at the Blogodo Gardens Polling Station to get Mr Kofi Adam, the National Organiser of the NDC to speak on some issues such as why some voters could not trace their names in the register proved futile.
Largely, President John Dramani Mahama, who was the sole candidate in the NDC Presidential Primary received an overwhelming endorsement across the Klottey Korle Constituency.
The GNA came across some members of the diplomatic community who were monitoring the conduct of the elections in the Klottey Korle Constituency; they however, declined to speak on the issue.
