The Enchi College of Education (ENCHICO) in the Aowin District of Western Region has matriculated 300 fresh students for 2015/2016 academic year.
The College has also added French to the already existing Akuapem Twi and Asante Twi language courses.
Madam Victoria Aidoo, the Principal of the College, urged the fresh students to be law abiding, saying, it was important for them to lead lives that were acceptable on campus.
She said the College received over 1000 applications out of which 300 applicants were offered admission -187 men and 113 women.
Madam Aidoo said “as we admit you as junior members of the College, you must count yourselves as blessed and fortunate. Many are out there who had wanted this golden opportunity but never had it.”
“You must set yourself very high academic and moral standards, remain focused and let there be no limits to your dreams ,” she added.
In a speech read on his behalf, Mr Oscar Ofori Larbi, Aowin District Chief Executive, said the provision of teachers for basic schools was crucial in the effort of government to provide quality education in the country.
He said to overcome the problem of securing guarantors for students, district assemblies have been mandated to serve as guarantee for students.
Alhaji Sophianu, the District Director of Education for Aowin, congratulated the fresh students and advised them to participate in all school activities. GNA
