Sammy Crabbe can leave NPP – Nana Obiri Boahen

Deputy General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked the Second Vice Chairman of the party to leave the party if he feels uncomfortable.

According to Nana Obiri Boahen, Sammy Crabbe is only taking advantage of the party to enrich himself and to destroy the party and subsequently make it unpopular.

“Sammy Crabbe’s absence or presence will not affect the fortunes of the party and so if he is not comfortable in it, he should leave the party because we have had enough of him and his tutorials,” he said.

Sammy Crabbe has declared that suspended Chairman Paul Afoko remains the national chairman of the party.

According to him, he does not recognize the first vice chairman, Freddie Blay who is the acting chairman of the party following the suspension of Afoko.

“No, no, no I don’t see him (Blay) as chairman and if he convenes a meeting I’m not going. If I do next time you’ll be asking me to recognise a coup d’état. I can’t just accept that. I don’t fear. I’m courageous,” Crabbe said on an Accra-based radio station last week.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) on October 10, 2015, unanimously voted to suspend Paul Afoko indefinitely for allegedly acting against the fortunes of the party

But Sammy Crabbe who believes the suspension of Afoko is a recipe for chaos insists there is nothing like acting chairman in the NPP constitution, and the National Executive Committee acted illegally in suspending him.

But Nana Obiri Boahen on Accra-based Okay FM on Thursday, indicated that “he (Mr. Crabbe) is not the only person to interpret what is good or not for the party”.

He noted that the NPP is ready to wrestle power from the Mahama-led government “and will not pay attention to detractors like Sammy Crabbe for trying to tarnish the image of the party.

“I together with other executives don’t need any tutorials from him and so if he cannot stand it, he should just leave the party” he declared.
