Joyce Kpano, an Administrative Assistant, was on Tuesday granted bail in the sum of GHc 10,000.00 with two sureties earning not less than GHc 1,000.00 by an Accra Circuit Court for defrauding by false pretences.
Joyce who was said to have defrauded two persons of an amount of GHc 5,000.00 each with the pretence of sending them to Qatar pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Tassan told the court that the complainants in the case are Samuel Kwesi Ewudzi and Richard Mawuli, while the accused person, Joyce resides at Ashale Botwe.
He said between February and April 2015 the accused person collected an amount of Ghc 5,000.00 each from the complainants and promised to send them to Qatar within three months, but after obtaining the said amount failed to honour her promise and went into hiding.
The prosecution said all efforts made by the complainants to retrieve their monies from her proved abortive.
Police Chief Inspector Tassan said they made a report to the police and the accused person was subsequently arrested and during investigations, Joyce admitted the offence and after investigations was arrested. GNA
