NADMO presents relief items to tidal wave victims

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has presented relief items worth GH₡ 50,000.00 to the people of Fuveme, a fishing community in the Keta Municipal area hit by recent tidal waves.

The items include 30 bags of kilo rice, eight cartons of vegetable oil, 275 plastic plates and bowls, two bales of used clothes, blankets and a bag of gari.

Nearly 40 people were said to have been displaced in the disaster during which, houses were inundated by the sea destroying fishing gear, clothing, stockpiles of food, salt and cash.

Mr Kofi Humado, Member of Parliament for Anlo, handing over the relief items to the community leaders at Anyanui, sympathised with the people and said their plight had touched the heart of the authorities.

Togbi Moses Akorli, a leader of the community receiving the items expressed gratitude.

Meanwhile, an island in the area, called Kporkporgbor, has lost all but three houses to the waves.

Majority of the residents are said to have located to other areas. GNA
