The Ghana international has been one of the best performers in the English topflight, netting four times
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright and ex-Newcastle United frontman Alan Shearer are the latest personalities to laud Swansea winger Andre Ayew following his impressive start in the Premier League.
The deputy Ghana captain joined the Jacks in June from French side Marseille, and has so far netted four times in eight matches, having as well provided an assist in a 2-1 win over Manchester United.
“He’s relishing the Premier League and he’s a perfect player for Swansea City,” Wright told the BBC.
“They signed Montero last year and now, to be fair, they’ve done it again with Ayew.
“We see him chasing back a lot. He’s very tenacious and he’s got a lot of quality about him.
“We see him on the edge of his own box making great blocks. I thought he was a forward but he’s far more than that.”
Ayew, 25, was on target as Swansea held Tottenham to a 2-2 stalemate at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.
“He chases back. He wins his team free kicks with clever play,” Wright continued.
“He makes dangerous runs into the box. He has great technical ability and passes with both feet. He plays exquisite through balls to Bafetimbi Gomis.
“He’s struck up a great relationship with Gomis. He creates time and space for the players around him. He’s got a rocket shot. His headed goal was ‘fantastic’ because it was so powerful.”
Adding to that, Shearer said: “We often hear about foreign players needing time to adapt to the Premier League. Not this guy, he’s into it straight away and he looks like he’s enjoying his football.”
Ayew, currently on international duty with Ghana, was named the Premier League Player of the Month of August.
