The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, arrived in the country this morning for a day’s official visit.
He was met on arrival by President John Dramani Mahama, and a cross-section of state dignitaries.
Also at the Airport to meet President Buhari was a cross-section of the Nigerian community in Ghana, who welcomed their leader amidst drumming and dancing.
On arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, President Buhari was accompanied by President Mahama to the dais for the national salute.
He then inspected a guard of honor by the Ghana Army, mounted by 96 men and three officers, under the command of Flight Lieutenant Davies Aboagye, with the Armed Forces Central Band in attendance.
President Buhari then returned to the dais for the national salute once more, after which he was escorted by President Mahama.
While in the country, President Buhari is expected to hold bilateral talks with his Ghanaian counterpart, and the two leaders are also expected to hold a joint press conference.
A luncheon will also be held in honour of President Buhari.
The Nigerian President is expected to return home later in the day. GNA
