Ghana senior national team the Black Stars on Saturday defeated Rwanda in Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Kigali.
The captain of the day Andre Ayew nearly gave the stars an early lead at the 36th minutes mark when he read a perfectly delivered Wakaso cross but headed the ball wide.
Neither team threatened much in the first half but Rwanda appeared to have returned from the dressing room with the most energy looking to cook up another upset against a team they last beat in the 2004 qualifier.
The Rwanda side held Ghana for most of the match until in the 85th minutes when a Mubarak Wakaso free kick found its way into the back of the home team’s net to give the Stars a lead they maintained till the final whistle was blown.
The win also makes it two for two so far for Ghana who are hoping to book a place at the tournament to be held in Gabon in 2017.
VibeGhana.com research of the 2017 AFCON qualifier calendar shows that Group H leader Ghana next plays Mozambique in march and will host a return with Rwanda in September 2016.
