Save Your Liver Foundation (SYLiF) a non-governmental organisation, on Tuesday organised a public screening and education exercise for residents of Tamale as part of activities to mark this year’s World Hepatitis Day.
World Hepatitis Day is marked on July 28, every year across the globe.
SYLiF specialises in liver health education and helps to create awareness on other liver related diseases.
Reverend Fred Kankam-Boadu, Programmes Director of SYLiF, urged individuals to make it a point to always go for regular screening of their liver.
He said it is good for people to know their hepatitis status to seek vaccination before it escalates into other serious diseases.
Mrs Valeria Yengyieone, a resident of Tamale, who was amongst those screened, expressed delight at taking part in the exercise and urged others to get tested for the disease. GNA
