Man killed by vehicle

A 34-year-old man, Joseph Miah from Tikobo Number Two near Mpataba in the Western Region, died instantly when he was knocked down by a vehicle.

The Jomoro District Police Commander, Superintendent John Furguson Dzineku, who made this known to Ghana New Agency at Half-Assini on Friday, said the incident occurred at about 1800 hours on Wednesday, July 22, at Same near Mpataba, when the deceased attempted to cross to the opposite side of the road.

Supt Dzineku said an opel astra “B” was from Aiyinase in the Ellembele District heading towards the Samenye security check point when the accident occurred.

Supt Dzineku said the driver of the vehicle, Mr Gorden Kwaw, claimed that when he arrived at Samenye, he spotted the deceased by the road side, but did not understand how he (deceased) suddenly came under the vehicle.

According to the District Police Commander, the driver has been released on bail, adding that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Half-Assini Government Hospital morgue for autopsy, while police investigations continue. GNA
