Former U.S Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, has announced that she will run for President in 2016 to replace Barack Obama who leaves office in Jan. 2017 after serving two terms.
She made the announcement on her campaign website on Sunday afternoon with a promise to be a champion for all Americans.
“Everyday Americans needs a champion. I want to be that champion.” Mrs. Clinton said.
Mrs. Clinton will be making her second attempt at the office after losing to President Obama in 2008 democratic nomination race.
VibeGhana.com contributor Kofi Frimpong, says Mrs. Clinton, would have to work extra hard since according to him she will face stiff competition from other strong democratic candidates who are yet to enter the race.
“She will for sure be a frontrunner for a moment, but once the likes of Jim Webb who is a well decorated veteran and former senator from Virginia and Mr. Martin O’Malley, a former Governor of Maryland get into the race it will quickly become a dog fight”.
” Webb and O’Malley are both very popular in their home states as well as in the party so support for Clinton will not be a done deal for awhile.”
Mrs. Clinton is scheduled to visit the state of Iowa next week to begin the year-plus march as she attempt to clinch the democratic nomination.
