The Amenfi East District Police Command in the Western Region has declared a 22-year-old lover wanted for penalising his girlfriend with acid burns.
The victim has been admitted at the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital for treatment.
The 22-year-old, identified as Ernest Obeng Boakye, reportedly poured the acid on the face of his 19-year-old girlfriend, Vivian Adomako.
This occurred at Bawdie in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region.
Vivian, whose face has changed due to the severe burns, has been admitted at Wassa Akropong Government Hospital.
The police in the district say, upon getting hint of their knowledge of the matter, Ernest vanished into thin air.
He is on the run but has been declared wanted by the police.
Although the matter is under investigation, eyewitnesses confirmed the relationship of the two.
According to some of the community members, the two lovers have been together until the unfortunate incident occurred.
Narrating what led to the bizarre incident, an eyewitness said the two lovers have been dating without the approval of the boy’s family.
He said family members of the boy instructed him to stop dating the girl and rather concentrate on securing a decent job because he was jobless.
The girl, in response, appealed to the boy to stop following her, but the boy rejected the proposition to end the relationship.
On April 6 at about 10am, he visited the girl to appeal against the decision adopted by the girl based on the advice of his parents.
Unfortunately, the young girl stood her grounds and refused to accept him back. Unable to swallow the bitter pill of losing his lady, he reportedly pummelled the girl severally and created a bizarre scene in the girl’s house.
He subsequently left the girl’s house unceremoniously, only to return in an hour with an acid to pour on the girl, leaving her disabled.
Upon realising the harm caused, he bolted, and has since been hiding. But the police command investigating the matter has declared him wanted.
