The Old Lady cruised through to the final eight with a 3-0 away victory against Borussia Dortmund
Kwadwo Asamoah’s Juventus remain alive in the Champions League after a 5-1 aggregate triumph over Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion.
The Black Star is the only Ghanaian player left standing in Europe’s premier continental club competition, even if injury has limited his contribution this season.
Following Juventus’s victory, however, the midfielder still stands a chance of featuring in the Champions League again before the campaign comes to an end.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side were superb against Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park, and rarely looked in danger of missing out on the quarter-finals.
They travelled to Germany with a slender advantage having won 2-1 at home, but their lead was extended inside three minutes when Carlos Tevez fired home a powerful shot that beat Roman Weidenfeller at his near post.
There were remnants of resistance from Dortmund, who sought to reduce arrears, but Juve wrapped up the contest inside the final 20 minutes.
Alvaro Morata scored from close range on 70 minutes before Tevez, enjoying a superb run in Europe, scored his third of the tie nine minutes later.
It was not a flawless evening for Juventus, however, who lost Paul Pogba to a hamstring injury. The France international joins Andrea Pirlo and Asamoah in the treatment room, further depleting the Bianconeri’s already-reduced midfield options.
The Italian heavyweights will learn on Friday who they are set to face in the next round, with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, FC Porto, Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco the other teams in the hat.
There is a realistic expectation that Asamoah will feature for the reigning Serie A champions before the end of the season.
His last game for his club was the 3-2 Champions League victory over Olympiakos on November 4, since when he has been out of action with cartilage trouble.
The midfielder is believed to be on target to return at the beginning of April, meaning that he may be in contention to feature for Allegri’s side in the quarter-finals on the 14/15 April and the 21/22 April.
Asamoah last featured for Ghana during the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifying victory over Guinea. Injury ruled him out of the tournament proper in Equatorial Guinea and he is yet to feature under new coach Avram Grant.
