Criminal activities reduce in Winneba

The Winneba District Police Command has appealed to people in the area to continue to support them to combat crime in the District.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Kofi Sarkodie Addo, the Crime Officer, told the GNA in an interview that crime had reduced in the Municipality.

He said stealing cases reduced from 207 in 2013 to 95 in 2014 and 607 assaults cases were also recorded in 2013 against 254 in 2014.

Robbery cases reduced from 23 in 2013 to three in 2014, defilement cases went down from 22 in 2013 to 15 in 2014 and two rape cases was recorded in 2014 against four in 2013.

He said the achievement came about as a result of strategies the Command put in place, intensified patrols both day and night, team work, public cooperation and able leadership.

ASP Addo said even though the police had been trained to protect lives and properties, they cannot do the job alone and appealed to cooperation from the public. GNA
