Famous Ghanaian TV star KKD, known in private life as Kwasi Kyei Darkwah has been brought back to the Airport police station to spend another night behind bars.
The police processed Mr. Darkwah for court on Monday afternoon but arrived late at the Cocoa Affairs Court in Accra where he was scheduled to see a judge to answer/seek a bail on a rape charge he faces following an incident involving a 19-year-old girl at the African Regent Hotel.
Family members and supporters of the entertainer who camped out at the court premises to show moral support to the 50-year-old Mr. Drkwah express disappointment at the dicision to postpone the first hearing in the case till tomorrow.
A man who said he is a relative of KKD and asked that he remain anonymous told VibeGhana.com that members of the family feel letdown that he wasn’t released at least on bail today.
“We came here to help get our brother out but they are now saying he should come back tomorrow because the judge has left. we will come here again tomorrow to show more support for him, he is a good man and not a rapist.”
KKD, was arrested on Saturday after a 19-year old girl whose identity is currently sketchy said he raped her at the African Regent Hotel at Airport.
KKD has since denied the charge but however, said the two of them had sex with mutual consent.
Barring any unforeseen development, KKD will appear at the Cocoa Affairs Court in Accra tomorrow to answer the charges and asked that he be granted bail.
