The Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank has presented a cheque for GH¢7,000 to 12 new students enrolled onto its scholarship scheme.
This will cover their school fees for this academic year.
The scholarship scheme was started over 23 years ago and it is supporting 48 continuing students in senior high schools and tertiary institutions.
Mr. Patrick Owusu, the Board Chairman, handing over the cheque in a ceremony held at Pakyi-Number-Two in the Amansie West District, said the Bank was spending GH¢24,700 on them.
The intervention is meant to provide an opportunity for brilliant students from poor homes to pursue academic careers.
He said the selection was based on good performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and therefore advised parents to encourage their children to study hard.
He re-affirmed the Bank’s determination to continue to build more structures for the Atwima-Kwanwoma Presbyterian SHS.
Nana Kyei Asiamah Aduakwa II, the chief of the town, praised the bank for its support for the development of education. GNA
