The United States branch of Friends of Nana Akufo-Addo (FONAA-USA) was officially inaugurated on Saturday September 13, 2014 at a fund raising dinner and gathering of patriots of the elephant fraternity at the A and C banquet hall in Woodbridge, Virginia, USA.
The inauguration was graced with the presence of patriotic Ghanaians from all over the USA and NPP top brass: Hon. Freda Prempeh, MP Tano North, Hon. Adwoa Safo MP for Dome Kwabenya, Mr Gabby Otchere-Darko, an attorney at law, and Director of Danquah Institute, NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Mr. Benard Antwi-Boasiako, some NPP-USA national executive members and Chapter chairs and members.
The Asantefuohene of the Greater Washington Metro Area Nana Kofi Boateng who co-chaired the function, admonished the delegates to adopt a “win-win” approach and a positive mental attitude devoid of any antagonism.
He praised the FONAA members for the initiative and commitment to the cause of Nana Akufo Addo. Ms Stella Green, also a co-chair of the event, appealed for peace and party unity to enable the NPP achieve the ultimate objective of wrestling power from the incompetent Mahama/NDC government to save mother Ghana from hardships.
Hon. Freda Prempeh took the delegates through youth unemployment, failing health care system and other institutions in the country. Hon Adwoa Safo bemoaned the leadership incompetency of the Mahama and NDC government particularly its penchant for corruption such as GEEDA and Woyomegate.
Chairman Wontumi summed his presentation on electoral fraud with a strong admonition with a message “Do not Fear, We shall overcome.” He quoted several scriptures in the bible to back his claim that regardless of any enticing rewards from the Government in power what he believes is that the will of God will prevail.
He pledged his unflinching support to see to it that the NPP regains power in 2016. He asked the delegates to demonstrate their love by providing financial support to the party.
Gabby Otchere Darko stimulated excitement when he announced that he has never witnessed such a united front among the regional chairmen and the grassroots since the party was formed.
He assured the delegates that the party is united as more than ever contrary to what people read in the news. He also mentioned that as a close confidant of Nana Akufo Addo, he knows that Nana is more concerned about leading a united party than being a president. He asked all to remain focus on the ultimate objective of electing Nana Akufo-Addo NPP flag bearer and president to restore Ghana’s social, political and economic dignities.
Very spectacular of the occasion was the successful fundraising and the unanimity of purpose , commitment and the conviction that Nana Akuffo-Addo is the transformational leader Ghana needs to develop Ghana and emancipate the masses from the hardships unleashed on them by the clueless Mahama and NDC government.
Mr Gabby Octhere sworn in FONAA-USA elected officials into office.
