Tomato prices up, yam down in Tamale Survey

Prices of tomatoes (Paint container) have increased in price but the price of yam has dropped in the Tamale Metropolis this week as against last week.

A painter container of tomatoes, which was sold last week at GH¢5.00 is now being sold for GH¢11.00 and three tubers of small size yam has reduced from GH¢10.00 to GH¢5.00.

Some of the market women explained to the GNA Business that the reduction in prices of the yam had been as a result of the harvesting period and predicted a further reduction in prices.

A GNA market survey conducted in the two main Aboabo and the Tamale Central markets showed that prices of other commodities such as beans, local and foreign rice remained stable.
