Advertising Association of Ghana inducts new officers

The Advertising Association of Ghana has sworn into office a new executive council for a two-year mandate.

The Council, which has Mr Joel Edmund Nettey, Chief Executive of Innova DDB Ghana, as President, Ms Mansa Amowuah as Vice President and Mr Martin Osei as Treasurer and 10 other members were inducted into office by High Court judge, Justice Naa Adoley Azu at a dinner held at the Banquet Hall of the State House.
They took the Oaths of Office and of Secrecy.

Mr James Asare-Adjei, President of the Association of Ghana industries, who was the guest of honour called on the members to ensure the passage of the advertising authority bill into law to ensure sanity in the industry.

He said it is important that advertising be guided by ethics, especially the content.

Mr Asare-Adjei said the many excesses on the airwaves following the proliferation of FM radio stations must be checked.

He called for the collaboration between the Advertising Association and industry to promote made in Ghana services.

On the economy, Mr Asare-Adjei called for short-term measures to stabilise the economy and shore up the value of the cedi.

He said while AGI is not against competition, government must reassess its position on trade liberalisation and look at import substitution.

Mr Joel Nettey thanked members for the confidence reposed in them to steer the affairs of the Association.

He underscored the commitment of the executives to work hard to meet the goals and expectation of members and expand the horizon of the Association.

Mr Joel Nettey pledged to work with integrity, probity, accountability and transparency in pursuit of the Association’s objectives.

He pledged commitment to ensure that the needs of all interest groups in the association, including media agencies, outdoor companies, production houses, creative agencies and individual members are met.

Mrs Nokor Duah, the immediate past President of the AAG called for collaboration and support for the executive council to enable them to deliver on their mandate and push the frontiers of the association further.

Meanwhile, the Advertising Association of Ghana will this year from November 12-14 host the IAA and the world of Advertising in Accra. GNA
