Ex-convict slapped four years jail term for stealing bicycle

A circuit court at Akim Swedru in the Birim South District has sentenced an ex-convict to four years imprisonment in hard labour, for stealing a bicycle valued 100 Ghana Cedis.

The Ex-convict, Evans Ahenkorah, 21, unemployed, pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and stealing.

Prosecuting, Inspector Richard Sabbah told the court presided over by Mr. Yaw Atta Sampong that both the complainant and Mr. Richard Marfo, a driver’s mate live at Akim Swedru in the Eastern Region.

Inspector Sabbah stated that on April 11, this year at about 20:00 hours Mr. Marfo and other tenants in his house were watching television in their various rooms, when Ahenkorah unlawfully entered the house and stole a bicycle valued 100 Ghana Cedis, property of Mr. Marfo.

The prosecutor said Ahenkorah’s sister, one Madam Letitia, informed Mr. Marfo that his brother stole his bicycle and therefore, made a complaint to the police, who arrested the ex-convict and latter retrieved the bicycle. GNA
