A 25-year-old mason was on Wednesday remanded into police custody by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a five year- old pupil at Amamole near Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality.
Charged with defilement, Shaibu Eliasu pleaded not guilty before the court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava.
Eliasu is expected to reappear on June 6.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah said the complainant was the victim’s mother.
According to ASP Acquah, the complainant, the victim and Eliasu reside at Amamole, near Amasaman.
On April 18, prosecution said the complainant went to plait her hair with the victim. In the process the complainant asked the victim to go and call her father in the house opposite the accused person’s abode.
Eliasu on seeing the victim gave her 20 pesewas to buy him a sachet of water and when the victim returned, the accused person allegedly lured her into his room and defiled her.
Eliasu after the act warned the victim not to tell anyone else she will die.
Prosecution said a week later, complainant saw some yellowish fluid in the victim’s pant and when she was quizzed, she disclosed that it was Eliasu who defiled her.
The prosecutor said the complainant through some good Samaritans managed to arrest Eliasu and he was escorted to the Amasaman Police Station where a medical form was issued to the victim to attend hospital for examination and treatment.
The matter was referred to the Tesano Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit. GNA
