Court remands two persons for Narcotics

An Accra circuit court on Wednesday remanded two persons, in police custody for possessing narcotic drug without law authority.

The accused persons included Farauk Abubakari, 22 years and Sumail Yusif, driver, pleaded guilty with explanation and would re-appear on January 24 for sentence.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Cletus Abadamlora told the court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, that the accused persons resides at Mallam C.P, Kasoa and Amanfro respectively.

He said on December 30, last year, the Anti-human trafficking unit with assistance of the narcotic unit proceeded to Kasoa based on intelligence reports received.

He said the report indicated that a 16-year-old girl has been kidnapped and hiding in a house.

The prosecution said two houses were pointed to the police at Kasoa and a search conducted in the rooms revealed in one of the rooms an alluminium tray containing dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.

ASP Abadamlora said the police arrested them and upon interrogation they claimed ownership. GNA
