A 13-member Street Addressing Team (SAT) under the chairmanship of the District Coordinating Director, Mr Philip K. Asamoah, has been inaugurated at Ajumako by Mr Peter Light Koomson, District Chief Executive for Ajumajo-Enyan-Essiam.
This is in response to the presidential directives on National Street Naming and Property Addressing Policy announced in March, 2013.
The team, made up of departmental heads and professionals, would coordinate the implementation of the project in the district.
Mr Koomson explained that Ghana was adopting the approach of integration of street naming and property addressing process with the creation of reliable tax data base for the districts to enhance the ability of the assemblies to generate enough revenue at the local level.
He said SAT would start work from the district capital at Ajumako and extend it to other towns in the district.
Mr Koomson said traditional authorities had to be consulted to suggest names for the streets while other opinion leaders like assembly members would also have to support the programme.
He announced that the assembly had secured a well-furnished special office for the exercise, adding that the Town and Country Planning office at Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese and the Land Valuation office at Assin North Municipal Assembly have been given over-sight responsibility for the project at Ajumako.
