Two arrested over the robbery of two foreign-based players

The key suspects over the robbery of two foreign-based Ghanaian footballers at Abuakwa near Kumasi have been arrested and are being held by the police.

Kwadwo Twumasi alias “Rebel”, 23, and Kwadwo Antwi alias “MC” 21, allegedly attacked and robbed the players at gunpoint at an internet café on January 7 at about 2130 hours.

Qatar-based Michael Oppong and his colleague, Kwadwo Kankam, who plies his trade in Serbia, had gone to the Abuakwa Executive Internet Café to have their laptop computers upgraded when the two suspects together with one other person now on the run, struck.

They seized their laptop computers, Macbook, two phones and a cash of GH₵2,000.00.

The robbers also inflicted wounds on Kankam and the café attendant with a pair of scissors.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Augustine Gyennin, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, told a press briefing in Kumasi that the suspects had confessed to carrying out the crime.

One of the two, Kankam, in a caution statement said he took part in the robbery with the hope of making money to travel to the United States.

DCOP Gyennin said the stolen laptop computers, phones and the Macbook had all been retrieved. GNA
