Twenty-two year Stephen Agyemang Badu, a loading boy in Kumasi, will spend the next 10 years of his life in prison for having sex with a 14- year- old Junior High School student.
Stephen Agyemang Badu was convicted on his own plea by the Kumasi Circuit Court.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Philip Yao Bebli told the court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyemang Budu that at about 1830 hours on November 18, the victim after helping her mother to sell her wares at Kejetia proceeded to collect money from a customer; when Badu met her and offered to escort her since it was getting dark.
Taking it as a kind gesture from a “good Samaritan”, the victim naively obliged. On their way, Badu, succeeded in luring the victim to a nearby bush, where at knife point, he forcibly had bouts of sexual intercourse with her.
Badu, after satisfying himself left the victim to her fate.
At about 0330 hours, while the victim’s mother made frantic efforts looking for the victim a security man working at Kejetia, found her trying to find her way home.
Upon interrogation, victim told the security man of her terrible experience which led to the arrest of the convict who was handed over to the Domestic and Victim Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service at Manhyia.
In his caution statement, Badu confessed to the crime. GNA
