The Effiduase Diocese of the Methodist Church has held its annual children’s festival with a call on the youth to uphold the values of hard work, decency and discipline.
The Reverend Kenneth Arthur-Sarfo, Coordinator of the Children’s Ministry, said they should be God-fearing and have a strong inclination to serve their nation, community and humanity.
“Witnessing for Christ through sports and games” was the theme for this year’s event, hosted by the Juaso Circuit of the Church at Bompata, in the Asante-Akim South District.
It brought together young people from 18 out of the 19 Circuits to compete in football, athletics, Bible quiz and singing.
The goal was to help unearth and develop their talents to become useful to both the church and country
The Rev Arthur-Sarfo counselled them to comport themselves at home and in school and to respect the law, the elderly and those in authority.
Mr. De-graft Fokuo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said aside the health benefits, the festival was an opportunity to draw the youth closer to God, and urged them to reject violence and other socially reprehensible acts that could ruin their lives. GNA
