Former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has called on twice-defeated presidential candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to congratulate him for conceding, after the Supreme Court announced the election petition verdict on Thursday.
Mrs. Rawlings visited the former Attorney General at his Nima residence in Accra on Tuesday.
General Secretary of the NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John confirmed the visit to XYZ News.
Also calling on Nana Akufo-Addo over the same issue was a delegation from the United Nations.
Nana Akufo-Addo, first Petitioner in the presidential results challenge at the Supreme Court, called President John Mahama to congratulate him, within minutes after the apex Court declared Mr. Mahama the “validly elected” President in the 2012 general elections.
Nana Akufo-Addo also said he will not file for review of the Supreme Court verdict so that the nation can move on after eight months of legal battle between the two main parties.
He then called on his party and supporters to move on and accord President Mahama the needed respect and recognition.
Ever since his concession, Nana Akufo-Addo has been the toast of renowned personalities like Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Nigerian Prophet, T.B. Joshua, Ghana’s National Peace Council as well as the country’s Christian Council, for demonstrating political maturity.
