Internet Boost Innovation In Ghana

This method contribute to an optimistic views of a sustainable future but as a country in transition, it continues to face social,economic,and civil challenges.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Haruna Idrissu said this, as Google Ghana launches it “innovation Ghana’ initiative in Accra where awards were presented to the “innovation Hero” as the most outstanding Ghanaian innovators who have use internet to deliver smart technological solutions to existing issues.

The Minister said the initiative seeks to celebrate positive examples of individuals, initiatives as well as business using the internet creatively to stimulate demand for locally produced goods, services and information.

He said the use of technology will help to create a direct positive impact on the Ghanaian economy. This in turn transforms enterprises, strengthens trade, boost industrial growth and create jobs which will ultimately improve the lives of Ghanaians.

The event he said showcased a new Dailberg study, commissioned by Google, about the positive socio economic impact of the internet in Ghana and across Africa. He said the study shows that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are optimistic about the internet’s potential.

He said more 80 percent of SME owners expected that the internet can be better leveraged for growth if there is cohesion and collaboration in policy and strategy across the 7 key sectors.

Google Ghana’s Country Manager Estelle Akofio-Sowah said the innovation awards reaffirm the findings of this new report that the internet is a tremendous, undisputed force for economic growth and social change.

She express her heart felt about the presentation of wards to these Ghanaians, business oriented through the use of internet to promote Ghanaian culture as they the look forward have more local business and individuals awarded for using the internet to support their efforts and businesses.

Receiving awards include Leti Games,FashionistaGh,Roots by Naa,DreamOval,Ghana Decides, and the ministry of Trade and industry web-based product gallery.
