NPP postpones “True State of the Nation Address”

The party’s MPs walked out of Parliament last Thursday as President John Mahama was set to present the State of the Nation Address to the House, citing their decision not to participate in any business relating directly to the presidency.

NPP Member of Parliament for Dome/Kwabenya Constituency Adwoa Safo, subsequently hinted that the Minority would deliver its “True State of the Nation Address” today, the day Parliament sits to debate the president’s Address.

Some Minority MPs as well as NPP leadership described President Mahama’s speech as a misrepresentation of Ghana’s situation today.

On Tuesday however, Deputy Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Bimbila Dominic Nitiwul disclosed on Adom TV that the party has encountered several hitches beyond its control.

He would neither confirm nor deny claims that the party is deadlocked in selecting a speaker to deliver the address, nor would he state precisely what the problem was.

It is unclear when the address will be delivered.
