THE ASHANTI Regional Youth Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Kwaku Boahen, has sent strong signals that the party will not sit down and allow the Supreme Court of Ghana to overturn the results of the election in favour of the opposition New Patriotic Party.
“If the NPP is dreaming that a day will come in Ghana that the court will say the December 2012 election was marred with fraud and that the NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo is the real winner; for the NDC to hand over power, they should forget, ” he cautioned.
Kwaku Boahen says it will be over the dead body of the ruling party to sit and just allow the Court to rule and overturn the outcome of the election.
“Do you think NDC will sit aloof and watch the court hand over power to the NPP, never! It will never happen in Ghana and anyone can mark it on the wall,” he ranted.
The NDC youth leader, who was speaking on a local radio station, ANGELFM in Kumasi noted further that it will be absurd for anyone to think that after official declaration of result and swearing in of the President-elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the NDC will just accept that the verdict be overturned.
Kwaku Boahen said the NPP and their noisy supporters are leaving in a land of dreams and fantasies, stressing that nothing will change after the Supreme Court pronounces judgment on the case filed by the NPP.
The NDC regional youth organizer also stated categorically that the court case will run for four years and that Ghanaians should not expect judgment anytime soon.
Promising that he will stop attending radio programmes should the Supreme Court pronounce judgement within the next two years, Kwaku Boahen said President Mahama will spend the entire four years without any hindrance.
“I will stop coming on air to defend the NDC if the Court is able to adjudicate the case within the next two years, “he pledged.
Kwaku Boahen implied that what happened at the Supreme Court on Wednesday was the ruling party’s answer to the lawlessness and the unruly behaviour of the executives of the NPP and their supporters.
