Electorate to Demonstrate over Achimota Land filed Site

The electorate of the Abofu electoral area under the Okaikoi North Sub-metro of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), has threatened to hits the street on Monday 14th January, 2013 since the authorities has given death ears over the Achimota land filled site’s health implications.

The Assembly member for the Area, Hon. James Akogo disclosed to Vibe Fm reporter Paul Axadzi in Accra on Saturday 12th January, 2013.

Hon. James Akogo said the electorate has been under bad heath condition for the past nine months ever since Zoom lion (a waist management company in Accra) has discovered the place as a land filed site without proper management.

According to him, his outfit has tried many means to prevent the dumping of refuse at the site but to no avail, he explained that the Accra Metropolitan Assembly does not respect the members of the assembly nor engage them in any fruitful deliberations to the effect of addressing the situation, but rather takes decisions which only goes in favor of certain individual in the assembly.

About 36, 000 electorates are expected to embark on peaceful demonstration on Monday 14th according Hon. James Akogo with supports from the chiefs of the area and the Member of Parliament elect for the Okaikoi North Constituency, Hon. Elizabeth Sackey to register their grievances about the health implication that the land filed site has impose on them for the past months in the Okaikor North Constituency and its environs

He noted that the electoral area has duly petitioned the police about the rout for the demonstration which will smoothly commence at exact 6: am on Monday 14th January 2013 through the Achimota Lorry Terminal to the dumping site; and from the Christian Village road including Achimota Club House under supervision of the police and back to the site where they will officially petition the authorities and all stakeholder involve.
