Attendance at President’s inaugural ceremony shows global endorsement of Mahama – PNC

President MahamaMr Bernard Mornah, General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has said that the impressive attendance at the inaugural ceremony of President John Dramani Mahama is an indication the global endorsement of his Presidency.

He said the presence of world leaders and people from all walks of life at the Independence Square where the ceremony took place, and the setup reminded all that Ghana was the shining black star of Africa.

Mr Mornah said this on Tuesday in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

According to him, President Thomas Yayi Boni, African Union Chairman’s speech endorsed the fact that Ghana was still held in high esteem among its peers in Africa.

The PNC scribe reiterated that the President’s mentioning of Tetteh Quarshie who was an ordinary man, and whose single act had made Ghana the second leading export of cocoa showed that ordinary people could be giants.

“To us it means each and every one of us irrespective of our background; be you a farmer, an artisan, by our contributions we can make Ghana great and strong,” he stressed.

Mr Mornah noted that it was even refreshing when the President said he intended to honour the promises he made during the campaign period.

He said those promises when fulfilled would go a long way to improve the socio-economic conditions of the country.

Mr Mornah urged Ghanaians to have high hopes in the new Mahama-led administration and make sure they put the government on its toes.

He advised President Mahama to appoint selfless people who would “put God and the nation first and believe in his vision to help him prosecute his Better Ghana Agenda”. GNA
