National Anthem officially ends the coronation of President Mahama
The playing of the National Anthem by the Central Band of the Ghana Police Force officially ended proceedings for the coronation of President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur at the Independence Square in Accra on Monday.
President Mahama, the fourth President of the fourth Republic of Ghana for a four-year first term, following his victory in the December presidential election, took the Presidential Oath and the Oath of Allegiance.
The Vice President Amissah-Arthur took the oath of the Vice President and the Oath of Allegiance, which were both administered by the Chief Justice, Mrs Justice Georgina Wood before Members of Parliament, and dignitaries, including scores of Heads of State from various countries.
The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries including some presidents from some African countries, foreign delegations, former President Jerry John Rawlings, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, service commanders, heads of institutions, traditional and religious leaders, political party leaders and a cross section of the public.
