The Northern Regional Executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for retaining power for the NDC to run the affairs of the nation for the next four years.
Alhaji Issifu Alhassan Umar, Northern Regional Secretary of the party in a statement issued in Tamale on Monday, said the victory had made members of the party proud and pledged to continue to exert their energies to support the President with the Better Ghana Agenda.
“We are full of joy and are confident in his capacity to continue the Better Ghana Agenda, which enters Chapter Two”, he said.
“We the executive and the entire NDC in the region will continue to give the President the needed support to work and meet the aspirations of Ghanaians to justify the confidence reposed in him”, the statement added.
Alhaji Umar said the Regional Executive was surprised about the loss of eleven Parliamentary seats out of the 31 and pledged to go back immediately to the drawing board and start the process of recapturing the lost seats in the 2016 elections.
Alhaji Umar commended constituency, ward and branch executives, the youth and all NDC sympathizers for their hard work that contributed to the victory of the NDC and expressed the hope that the party would remain united with a common purpose to strengthen the party’s structures. GNA
