The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Prestea Huni/Valley, Mr. Francis Adu-Blay Koffie has retained his seat in the 2012 parliamentary election.
The MP, who is contesting for the second time, won with 39,808 votes as against 31,209 votes obtained by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Mrs. Anastasia Wiredu Mensah.
Mr. Edmond Adjanor, the Returning Officer, said this in Bogoso when he declared the results for the parliamentary election.
The Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Mr. Eric Mensah polled 1,035 and Mr. Theophilus Berdu Samora of the Convention Peoples Party had 209.
Mr. Adjanor announced that for presidential, NDC and NPP obtained 40,904 and 30,175 votes each while PPP had 1,035 as against 207 for CPP.
He said GCPP had 220; PPP, 202; UFP, 58; PNC, 75; CPP, 121; and the Independent candidate, 40.
Mr. Adjanor said out of the 100,915 registered people in the district, the total votes cast recorded was 73,505 and 1,709 votes were rejected. GNA
