Voter turnout at Sunyani West Constituency for special voting is slow

Voting in Sunyani West Constituency in the on-going special voting for security personnel and officials of the Electoral Commission was slow as voters trickled to cas their ballots.

The normal queues that characterised voting were absent at the polling station which had only agents from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Eighty-five voters out of the 240 eligible voters in the biometric voters register had cast their ballots.

Ms Hycintha Donkor, the Presiding Officer, told the GNA that voting started at 0710 hours because they did not receive the electoral materials on time.

She said 20 eligible voters who could not trace their names on the register were not allowed to vote though they had their voters’ identification cards.

Ms Donkor explained that the security personnel were given four days to submit their names for the special voting but those who could not exercise their franchise had to wait for Friday 7 to participate in the general voting. GNA
