Ghana Election 2012: Special voting takes off at Madina Police station

The Special Voting by security personnel and staff of the Electoral Commission (EC) began earnest at 0700 hours this morning at the madina police station.

Present were personnel of the Customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Prisons, Immigration, Fire Service, EC Officials and the Police.

Speaking to the GNA, the presiding officer, Mr. Anthony Opusumah said the voting began promptly at 0700 hours and as at 0800 hours the station had recorded 986 voters.

He added that there had not been any problem and that the special voting exercise will end at 1700 hours. He indicated that similar exercises were underway at the Adenta police station and Dome.

The GNA observed a long winding queue as at 0820 hours at the station. Political party agents present included the New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Convention People’s Party (CPP) and those of the Independent candidate.
