Very Reverend Japhet Yao Ledo, former Moderator of Evangelical Presbyterian Church, has expressed optimism that the 2012 elections would be devoid of the tensions and apprehension a section of the public anticipate.
He however noted that politics has become synonymous with riches and influence, adding that
“Such mentality must change”.
Very Reverend Ledo was speaking at a sensitisation workshop for Church leaders and political party representatives from Ho, Kpeve, Adaklu, Kpando, and Kpetoe.
He said many politicians in Ghana are resorting to socially and morally unacceptable behaviour to either clench on to power or wrestle it from their opponents.
Very Reverend Ledo therefore urged the youth to be alert and resist attempts by politicians to manipulate them to cause election related trouble.
He said young people who allow themselves to be used by politicians to achieve their aims are destroying their own future. GNA
