KKD To Be Honored At Ghana DJ Awards

Accra – October 21, 2012 – Celebrated Ghanaian MC, Kwesi Kyei Darkwa, the first Ghanaian radio broadcaster to mix records club-style live on the air in Ghana will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the maiden edition of Ghana DJ Awards for his immense contribution to the Ghana music industry, DJ world and impact left on the DJ culture and progression in Ghana.

KKD who has expressed excitement about the award, commenced the trend of mixing popular Ghanaian dance music with Pop, R&B Ragga and Hip Hop, and raised the profile of disc jockeys as well as fees for their services in Ghana and her Diaspora. KKD generated a nationwide buzz and opened doors for youths dubbing tapes in record stores to enter radio as the next stage of their careers.

First of its kind in Africa, this year’s ceremony will honor radio Disc Jockeys, music promoters, battle DJs, Club MCs along with both major and independent DJs who have strived to make the Music industry an exceptional ground.
Ghana DJ Awards will host a star studded Blue-carpet ceremony prior to show time as well as “live” DJ performances during the show featuring Nigeria’s highest paid DJ, Jimmy Jatt, South Africa’s hotly sought-after lady DJ, Divalash and Ghana’s biggest beat droppers including DJ Perfekt, Killa-Fingers, Kofi Dixon, The Woodman and a host of others.
