Kofi Annan-led Global Commission on Elections, Democracy and Security to publish landmark report

Global Commission on Elections, Democracy and Security to publish a landmark report into the state of the world’s elections, highlighting global threats and challenges to democratic progress as well as measures to improve electoral integrity.

The Report, “Deepening Democracy: a Strategy for Improving the Integrity of Elections Worldwide”, will be presented by Mr Kofi Annan, Chair, Dr Ernesto Zedillo, Vice-chair, and other Members of the Commission.

“Deepening Democracy” is the outcome of two years of deliberations by the Global Commission. Based on extensive research, the Report addresses urgent challenges to electoral integrity and highlights the importance of deepening democracy for development and security.

The Commission will be making a series of recommendations to strengthen electoral processes and norms across the world.
