Dr Jerome Abaka-Cann, the Optometrist in-charge of Imperial Eye Care Centre, on Wednesday advised the citizenry to protect their eyes from injury and undergo complete eye examinations annually.
Dr. Abaka-Cann, who described the eye as a ‘very vital organ for the individual’s well-being and total progress,’ said this when, with his team, he provided free screening and health education for public and civil servants in Takoradi.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) hosted the event.
The workers were also tested for glaucoma and other eye diseases and conditions.
Dr. Abaka-Cann said the medical exercise was to improve the vision of the beneficiaries and reduce eye complications that often affect productivity.
Ms Felicia Yeboah, Western Regional Manager of the GNA, praised the team for their service and humanitarianism, saying having an excellent vision assists a worker to give off his best. GNA
