Mr. Kwaku Agyenim Boateng, Member of Parliament for Berekum, has encouraged Ghanaians to embrace the Free Senior High School Policy proposed the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party but not to cast doubt over its feasibility.
He said an astute politician and somebody who has a wealth of exposure and experience, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has thought through the policy carefully and identified the needed resources to implement it so Ghanaians should have confidence in his policy proposal.
Mr Agyenim Boateng said this when he commissioned a two unit kindergarten block for the people of Mpatapo, a farming community in his constituency.
He said most parents found it difficult to fund their wards’ education at the Senior High School level because of the general hardship, which had made life very uncomfortable and unbearable for the ordinary Ghanaian.
He stressed that the major way to make the situation better was to give Nana Addo a chance to implement the policy by voting for him in the December Election.
He recalled that when the NPP Administration initiated the National Health Insurance Scheme, a lot of criticisms were passed with some political opponents totally rubbishing it and calling it ‘a swindle agenda.’
But, he said, Ghana at this stage of development needed bold and decisive leadership capable of taking bold decisions to transform the economy from its current agrarian status to an optimistic and modern one.
He stated that the prices of goods and services were high and yet inflation was said to be running under single digit with and the large majority of the people feeling the pain of the harsh realities of the economy.
Mr Agyenim Boating encouraged the people of Berekum to actively participate in the up-coming Biometric Voter Registration Exercise, beginning on March 24, saying voting was the only way they could express themselves and choose the appropriate leaders to serve them.
He urged the people to play a vigilante role in ensuring that minors and unqualified people did not register.
Professor Gyan Fordjour, the Rector of Sunyani Polytechnic, advised the pupils to take their education seriously and to aim at achieving higher educational status. GNA
