A 15-year-old class six pupil, who defiled a five-year child, was on Tuesday ordered by the Kade District Magistrate’s Court to serve three years at a Senior Supervision Correctional Centre at Maamobi in Accra.
Giving the facts of the case, Police Inspector Francis Cobbina told the court that on November 20, the mother of the child sent her at about 1000 hours to buy cooked rice.
He said when the child was returning home with the food, the boy emerged from the bush and carried her to the compound of a school and defiled her on the ground.
After the act, he brought the victim to the road side from where she went home.
The prosecutor said due to the delay by the child in returning home, the mother suspected that something had happened so questioned her when she arrived.
The child narrated how she was grabbed by the boy and had sexual intercourse with her.
The mother informed the child’s father, and together they reported the matter to the Police who issued medical forms for the child to be taken to a medical facility for examination and treatment.
The boy was later arrested and the victim identified him as the one who defiled her.
The parents of the boy were ordered to pay the parents of the victim an amount of GH¢100 towards defraying medical expenses incurred. GNA
