Mrs. Christina Cobinah, Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa Nsueam Assembly, has been elected for the second time as the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for the Tarkwa Nsueam Constituency in the 2012 election.
Out of the 489 total votes cast, Mrs. Cobinah polled 286 votes to beat her contender, Mr. Stephen Kwakyi, a businessman who obtained 202 votes.
The primary, which lasted for six hours, was peacefully held in Tarkwa.
Delivering a short address after the winner had been announced, Mr. Kwakyi declared his total support to Mrs. Cobinah to enable them to work together to register more votes for the NDC and to unseat the sitting Member of Parliament, Mrs. Eugenia Gifty Kusi.
Mrs. Cobinah, however, appealed to all delegates to bury their differences and rather unite and work towards retaining power in the 2012 elections. GNA
